Water, though commonly occurring in nature, is invaluable. The demand of water for human use has been steadily increasing over the past few decades due to increase in population. Water is very much essential for irrigation.

Irrigation is the controlled application of water to croplands. Irrigation management in agricultural sector is a major concern. Water resource development and management course is the most demanding course in India. Water Resources Engineering focuses on the use and management of land and water resources in rural and urban watersheds.

The total geographical area of land in India is about 329 million hectare (M-ha), which is 2.45% of the global land area. The total agricultural land is about 140 M-ha which is less than half of the total geographical area. Hence irrigation plays vital role in increase in crop yield and protection from famines and other natural calamities. Economic development is possible only when we have a clear cut irrigation policy. We have to address the challenges of domestic and industrial water supply also.  Hence Pertecnica has started Water Resource Management Course for graduate engineers.
